FortiOS is Fortinet's Linux-based system, and no branch is designated long-term support (LTS), so the latest version inside a family matters most.
FortiOS 8.0 and FortiOS 7.6 Support Windows
Both branches sit well inside the support phase: 8.0 runs to 21 October 2030 and 7.6 to 25 January 2030.
FortiOS 7.4 and FortiOS 7.2 Cutoffs
FortiOS 7.4 loses engineering coverage on 11 May 2027, and its final date is 11 November 2028, though versio.io lists 11 November 2027, so confirm it with Fortinet. FortiOS 7.2 already passed its last date, so any FortiGate on its final patch version, 7.2.14, runs software outside coverage.

End of Order and Last Service Extension Date
EOO, the end of order date, is the final day a product can be ordered. LSED falls 12 months before end of support for most products and closes renewals of subscription services and your licence, counted from the GA date.
End of Engineering Support Versus End of Support
EOES arrives about 36 months after GA, when a release enters a must-fix phase and maintenance builds appear only for critical issues. EOS lands 54 months after GA and ends all maintenance.
FortiGate End of Life: Hardware Models Versus FortiOS Firmware
A FortiGate appliance and its software age on separate clocks. Each hardware model gets its own EOSL (end of service life) date, smaller models stop receiving newer branches first, and an RMA replacement ends once hardware coverage lapses, which hurts network continuity.
What Happens After FortiOS End of Support
Once Fortinet stops support, no new security patches or security fixes ship, so critical vulnerabilities and every later CVE stay open. PSIRT work targets supported branches, and ordinary bugs go unfixed. The release notes for each build list its models, and features such as SD-WAN, deep packet inspection and the Security Fabric inherit the same exposure.
